Travelers to Qatar should dress modestly when out in public as a courtesy to Qataris and Muslims, wearing clothing that covers the shoulders and upper arm and covers the legs past or to the knee. Women are not obliged to cover their hair, and bathing suits/shorts are appropriate for the hotel beaches. Public displays of affection between men and women are discouraged.
It is forbidden to bring alcohol into the country, and alcohol is only available within the country in some of the hotels’ restaurants and bars.
